Rural communities conference set By Gazette News Services A conference designed to help revitalize rural communities will be held Jan. 15-16 in Billings. The Rural Community Conference is for service providers, educators, researchers, policymakers, business and civic leaders, faith leaders and anyone looking for community-focused strategies to build thriving communities in rural Montana. The conference will be at the Holiday Inn Grand Montana. A community resource fair will feature exhibits highlighting community opportunities, effective strategies and community successes. The conference will include panel discussions and speakers. They include John Allen, director of the Western Rural Development Center at Utah State University; Cornelia Flora, director of the North Central Regional Center for Rural Development at Iowa State University; and Daniel Kemmis, a former leader of the Montana House of Representatives who is now on the board of directors of the Northwest Area and Kettering Foundations and the Missoula Redevelopment Agency. The conference is sponsored by MSU Extension and the Montana Horizons program.
